First Touch on your Wedding Day | Houston Wedding Photographer

Has anyone ever asked you if you will be doing a first touch with your Bride/Groom on your wedding day? Have you ever even heard of such a thing? Sometimes when I ask my couples during their final meeting about a first touch they get a confused look and say no.

Don’t get this confused with a First Look!  A First Touch can be done without seeing each other. ;)

A first touch happens before your wedding ceremony. You can use this moment to exchange gifts or love letters.

You can choose to read your love letters to each other out loud, to yourself or take it to a private room so no one sees you cry (that’d be me).

A first touch can be for saying a prayer or to simply hear your lover’s voice before you walk down the aisle to help calm those pre ceremony nerves(even I get those sometimes!).

It can be private or you can include your wedding party!

You can also take this moment to serenade them with a love song.

Please do this.

Forever my favorite First Look moment!!! So many tears of joy! I got to photograph this moment as second camera along side Nikki Taylor.

If you plan to do a first touch just be sure to plan accordingly and make time for it before your ceremony! You won’t need more than 10 minutes for this but I’d do it at least 40 minutes before the ceremony start time. I personally love capturing a first touch, 10/10 would recommend. It makes for fun and romantic photos also gives you an additional opportunity to get photos of just the two of you!

Don’t just take my word for it! Paige is one of my past brides who chose to do a first touch!

“I’ve always known that I wanted to see a genuine reaction on Joe’s face as I was walking down the aisle which is why I never considered a “first look”. So for me, a “first touch” was the perfect alternative. It gave me the opportunity to be and speak with Joe one last time before officially calling him my husband, but also kept the suspense and momentum of everything in place.” -Paige LaFuente

Thanks for stopping by!
