Galveston, TX Sunrise Elopement | Emily & Hunter

Elope in Galveston, TX!

Have you ever thought about Galveston being an elopement destination? If you’re here you might be thinking about eloping with your lover and I’m here to suggest the beaches of Galvy to say I Do!

We Have A Beach Only Minutes Away, Take Advantage!

I feel that beaches in Galveston are often overlooked by locals (like me) because the water can’t compare to that in California or literally anywhere else in the world. Back in 2017 I was considering moving to Colorado (I still do) and I realized that I’d be giving up having the ocean just a few minutes away. This was the moment I started to appreciate and take in the beaches available to me so much more than before. Let’s take advantage of that!

The Bride and Groom’s Love Story

Emily and Hunter’s love story is one of my favorites because they actually met on a plane exactly 5 years ago, from their wedding day! Hunter was traveling for his first job interview and Emily was going home from college. They noticed each other in the small terminal of Fort Smith regional airport, but only started to connect when she accidentally sat next to him. Accidentally because mid conversation Emily noticed she was assigned to be seated one row behind him but decided to ignore that small detail since it was already going so well. They talked the entire flight to Dallas/Fort Worth but it wasn’t enough so they were able to reconnect when they got back to Arkansas!
Despite them living in completely different cities and sometimes states they have stuck together through it all, forming a loving partnership and supporting each other in the pursuit of their dreams. With Emily finishing her last year of school in Galveston and Hunter building his career in San Antonio, they decided a beach elopement would be perfect!

Sunrise Wedding Ceremony For Privacy

What better time of day to start a new chapter in life than at sunrise? Emily and Hunter said I do as the sun rose behind the Gulf of Mexico with only myself as the photographer & KT as their officiant as witnesses. It was a beautiful, intimate ceremony.

Simplicity emphasized what matters most in life - love

-Emily

Having the ceremony at sunrise helped avoid crowds that might gather at the beach during the day or evening. If privacy is important for your ceremony then it will be worth setting your alarm for sunrise. Ive said it before and I’ll say it again! Sunrise over sunset in Galveston!

Here’s to always lifting each other up and treating each other as equals in a relationship. ;) 💕

Where in Galveston?

Galveston has its hidden gems! With a little bit of exploring before the big day you can find a spot that speaks to the both of you! Emily and Hunter were looking for a beach with as much sand as possible. Weeks before the wedding I went out to scout some locations I had in mind and found this little spot in the far east part of the island! It was a less populated area even in the middle of the day, had plenty of sand and even some grassy fields with wild flowers. The trail to the beach was my favorite!
