Engagement Session at the Butterfly Center | Houston TX

Here are 5 reasons why the Conservatory/Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Nature is great for your engagement session.

1. It has 1500 butterflies!

You have a high chance for a butterfly to land you. This will give your portraits an enchanting touch! Add some flowers, and you have the perfect boho look.

Bonus tip: The color red attracts butterflies.

2. You have a rainforest atmosphere in the middle of the city all year round.

You don’t have to leave Houston to get a rainforest backdrop for your portraits! Also if you are wanting your engagements in the winter but all the trees and grass are dried out, this would be a great choice!

3. It’s an indoor location.

Rain of shine the conservatory will protect you from the Houston weather. On this overcast day, the windows allowed plenty of light for portraits. This can also be a plan B if the weather is not cooperating with your original outdoor location.

4. Enjoy the museum!

You can enjoy the museum after your session! Make it a date and explore what The Museum of Natural Science has to offer.

5. Photography is allowed!

A permit is not required and compared to similar locations in Houston, it is definitely the one with the lowest entrance/photography permit fee ($10 per person).

Bonus tip: This fee only covers the entrance to the conservatory/butterfly center exhibition.

NOTE: As of right now the museum is doing 25% capacity and requires PPE to be used when visiting. More info on guidelines here. During these weird times, it’s important to check the guidelines to your favorite places like this one. Plan ahead, buy tickets online, respect others and stay safe!
